This project actually started on a few flashcards. My professor [for a class call What Really Matters] has assigned our class to listen to and write reflection about a series of TedTalks. [The class was ehh, but] I found writing the reflections very mind opening. Thus, after finishing the assignments, I guess I just got lost in researching revolutionary ideas and complex topics, specifically about mental health and technology (which is what I am majoring at school). After watching so many ted talks and documentaries, and jotting down so many notes on small flash cards, and throwing them all over my desk, I realized how cool all the information I was learning really, and how helpful it would be if I were able to go back on all this information in a seamless and convent matter. So a few TedTalks into the process, began writing my notes on canvas. The cut out pieces of paper that are glues on and look like they are sticking out, are the notes that that I initially took when I began the research. After I found myself with a bunch of eerie-like, deep, and quite uncomfortably true words 6 8x12” canvases, I figured it needed some brightening up. I added glitter to more important messages that I like throughout the study, and some color to shapes I liked, and ideas I found helpful for me to apply to life in my future. Indeed, most of the content is beyond intense. Unfortunately that seems to be the vibe manifested in the studies of the human body and the human brain, which is totally understandable to me. However, there are brighter sides to nearly everything in life. Therefore, as I tried to record the unfortunate realities we (human) are emerged in, I also tried to do my best in recording ways to look at thoughts, feeling, emotions, and the meaning of life, to give the viewer healthy practices and a string of hope.
